Halko Momoi joined local maids at Fanimaid Live! on Saturday. The maids, led by Jun-chan, performed three Momoi songs: Akihabalove, Kotae and LOVE.EXE. For each of these songs, Momoi came on stage either to join the dancing or to do a brief MC part.
Momoi's concert opened with Akihabalove. She sang covers of Give a Reason from Slayers Next and the Vocaloid song Luka Luka Night Fever. For this second cover, she invited anyone who knew the dance up on stage and was joined by two maids and two male dancers with LED gloves. She did an on-stage costume change revealing a super cute panda dress. She performed several of her new songs. For Ivy, her fan club was prepared with a supply of ultra green glowsticks. One song was so new that it was her first time singing it in front of an audience. For the last planned song, LOVE.EXE, she invited a number of the Fanimaids on stage to dance backup. For an encore, with no preparation and little time, she sang Motto, Yume, Miyou!! a cappella. While Momoi's cute antics are attention getting, her ability to get the audience dancing on the strength of her vocals and the cheers of her fan club without any musical accompaniment is impressive.
Momoi brought snacks from Japan and gave them out to people who asked questions at her panels, selecting snacks that she felt matched the question. Some of the first press of one of her recent CDs included certificates for personal attention from Momoi. Some lucky (?) American fans were able to redeem their certificates including one entitling the bearer to be slapped by Momoi.
While there can't be any official word about next year at this time, Momoi suggested that she wanted see the maids to perform Afilia Saga East songs (a group co-produced by Momoi) next year.
