FanimeCon dominated downtown San Jose. This year it was modestly bigger in terms of attendance than any previous year. Rooms at the Marriott and Hilton hotels attached to the San Jose Convention Center booked quickly. "Sold out" notices for some classes of rooms at the next three closest hotels appeared well in advance of the convention. The large DoubleTree hotel near the San Jose airport was the only convention hotel where rooms remained in good supply until the end of the reservation period. More than a dozen restaurants in the area provided discounts to people with FanimeCon memberships.
