Back in early March, FanimeCon announced the first guest from Japan, singer Yuya Matsushita. Then silence. Less than five weeks before the convention started it was announced that the band Flow would return. Finally in the month before the convention, there was a flood of announcements. The last announcement was for X Japan co-founder Yoshiki who made a brief appearance on Saturday.

Guest Mamoru Yokota offered some unique goods at a special auction to raise money to buy food and bring hot meals to areas in Japan that still are effected by the earthquake/tsunami. The shikishi art boards with autographs and sketches that were sold included a sketch of Himura Kenshin by Watsuki Nobuhira that was bought for $15,000.
