| Coverage: FanimeCon 2012 Pictures - FanimeCon emerges from the darkness FanimeCon started unusually. While the staff was setting up on Wednesday night, security in downtown San Jose was tight for President Obama who was spending the night in one of the hotels. Next on Thursday night, a capacitor behind the convention center failed, shutting off electricity for the convention center and surrounding areas. Registration stopped and the air conditioning shut off. FanimeCon staff distributed water to people waiting in the reg line. Registration eventually restarted, but people had a long wait.
