On Thursday, November 10, 2011, Vocaloid Miku Hatsune took over movie theaters in America for special screenings of the Sapporo "Hatsune Miku Live Party 2011" concert.

In San Francisco, she was at the Century San Francisco Centre 9 and XD in the Westfield Shopping Centre. Other places were Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Orange County, New York and Seattle. Attendees clapped and cheered, cosplayed Miku and other Vocaloids, and waved glow sticks and leek shaped LED lights. While Miku received top billing, male Vocaloid Kagamine Len had some very vocal fans. Vocaloid cosplayers after Hatsune Miku Live Party 2011

After the event, one of our staff asked singer Yukie Dong to autograph a poster promoting the CD Hatsune Miku -Project DIVA Arcade- Original Song Collection Vol.2. She is the lyricist for the song Hanamai Tsukuyomi Tan (花舞月詠譚) on this album. (Thanks to Yuki Dong and Kyoka for the photo below.)

More info is at and Live Viewing Japan's English Facebook page.

Also worth mentioning is a similar event for visual-kei (and anime theme song) band L'Arc~en~Ciel. Their "20th L'Anniversary LIVE" will be shown in San Francisco on November 29. This band has done themes for Fullmetal Alchemist, Rurouni Kenshin and other anime.

See our previous Vocaloid related reports on the J-Pop Summit Festival 2011 and FanimeCon 2011.
