The biggest anime music concerts are Animelo Summer Live at the
Saitama Super Arena in Japan. The first overseas version of this
concert, Anisama in Shanghai -Only One-, was held in China on February 19, 2011, with seventeen artists/groups including JAM Project.

The obvious place to have lunch before the concert was in a
neighborhood of big electronics/computer stores near Shanghai's Xujiahui
metro station. On the fourth floor of the Buy Now store is CATE La
Maid, a maid cafe known for waffles. CATE stands for "Coffee",
"Animation", "Tea" and "Entertainment".

Continuing south down the street from Buy Now is the concert site
which is known variously in English as the Shanghai Indoor Stadium, the
Shanghai Gymnasium or the Shanghai Grand Stage.

The pictures from inside the concert hall are not too exciting.
Photography was not allowed during the concert and ushers with
flashlights enforced the rules. It even appeared that one usher near
the stage was using a green laser to stop someone on the third level
of the hall from using a camera.

For a while, it appeared that people might sit in their seats for the
entire concert. After intermission, most of the audience stood up when Masami Okui led Yoko Ishida, Minami Kuribayashi and Faylan in
signing A Cruel Angel's Thesis
from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

The concert was about four hours plus intermission. It was reported
that the audience was over 8,000 people and 100,000 people watched the
live web broadcast on Nico Nico Douga. Orepara (Opera?), a group composed of voice actors including Mitsuo
Iwata, the voice of Gan-chan from The Adventures of
Mini-Goddess, had quite a following from supporters in matching T-shirts
to supporters with lighted signs.

Fortunately or unfortunately, the booths selling the expensive official
goods were still open and had stock after the concert.

Between all the artists, all the songs were Japanese except for one
Chinese song, "Only One" by JAM Project.

A translation of an
early press
release stated "If this live concert is successful, we will
consider hosting such events in France and the USA."
