December Special Features

Dec 95 flyer It's the season to be jolly, and why not? This month at No-Name, we'll have our first Christmas tree! And under that tree will be presents for our attendees. We'll be giving away all kinds of little knickknacks and decorations, as well as the 1996 calendars for Ah! My Goddess! and Whisper of the Heart.

To go along with the Christmas spirit, we're showing both of the last two episodes of Video Girl this month, as well as a special Christmas episode of Ranma 1/2. And because the Fanime Con premiere of Patlabor 2 did so well (you did go, didn't you?), we're going to show the first Patlabor movie to round things out. Of course, we'll have our monthly showing of Nadia as well, and the regular Tenchi, too. Now read on for the schedule or click here to see This Month's Flyer.

12:30 Tenchi Muyo #11
(Subtitled, Mystical comedy)
Tenchi and the gang must face the "Advent of the Goddess" when the supergenius scientist Dr. Clay comes to Earth to get Dr. Washu (hey, I don't make these up!). Commanded by Queen Tokimi, Dr. Clay creates an assassin who looks like Ryoko in order to infiltrate the Tenchi household more easily. How will Tenchi and the others deal with this? More importantly, how will the assassin react to Tenchi?

1:00 Nadia of the Mysterious Blue Sea #16
(Subbed, Adventure)
"Secret of the Lost Continent" is a somber episode, in which the Nautilus holds a funeral for the 3 crewmen who died in battle recently. Until now, the Nautilus' battles have seemed like a grand adventure. Now Nadia and Jean are confronted with the brutal realities of death, grief, and coming to terms with the loss of those you love. Also, some new secrets are revealed about Nadia's gem, the Blue Water. This episode is followed by an omake (extra) section, where Electra tries to explain the Blue Water to Marie, who definitely has her own way of understanding things.

1:30 Video Girl Ai #5
(Subtitled, Romantic comedy)
"Disappearing Ai" finds Youta working on his entry to the children's book contest. But when he sends Ai out to get more supplies and she doesn't come back, the trouble begins. It turns out Ai has run into the one person she least wants to see, and now her very life stands in the balance. Can Youta find her? And even if he can, will he be able to save her?

2:00 Abunai! Break time!
(General mayhem, presented in English)
Last month's break wasn't enough: we're still standing and ready to do another extremely cool break! This month we'll be giving away presents to our attendees. The prizes will range from various anime-related Christmas decorations to calendar sheets to the very cool 1996 calendars for Ah! My Goddess! and Whisper of the Heart (the latest film from Studio Ghibli). If you've been griping because of the old calendar pages we give away, gripe no more!
2:45 Patlabor 1 Movie
(Subtitled, Political intrigue thriller)
The Patlabor 2 premiere went great! And because we've heard some people missed it because of traffic and scheduling, we decided to show the first Patlabor movie. If you missed the Fanime premiere, here's you chance to catch the first movie! In this one, a major political battle is in the offing when a new operating system is installed in the Labors. When it turns out to be defective, no one wants to take the blame, but the Mobile Police are the ones who have to live with it!

4:25 Short break
(Just what it says)
4:35 Ranma 1/2 Nettouhen #105
(Subtitled, Action comedy)
Since it's appropriate for the season, we bring you "Christmas Without Ranma." Ranma and Akane are out shopping when disaster strikes. Akane returns home safely, but Ranma doesn't follow. And when Akane goes to look for him, every girl who likes him claims he'll be spending Christmas Eve with her instead. Will she find Ranma? And where will he be spending his Christmas Eve? This is one of those rare, touching episodes of Ranma that we like so much.

5:05 Video Girl Ai #6
(Subtitled, Romantic Comedy)
In "Ai - Ai - Ai" Youta must go into the video world to recover Ai, if it's even possible. While he's at it, he must confront the three Ai's: Ai the Video Girl, Ai for love, and Ai for pity. When the creator of the video world places a willing Moemi in his way, can Youta resist? Worse, can someone like Youta face the bitter pain of true love? This is the climactic last episode of an excellent series!
